When your child is playing in the playground, they tend to fall and get hurt. When they fall on their face they generally injure their nose and lips. But if they fall hard on the ground it might cause fracture of their front teeth.
If this happens with your child DO NOT PANIC.
Here are some of the simple things you can do :
- The most important thing is the parents should not panic or get nervous because the child is already scared of seeing his teeth break. If you also get panicky in front of the child it will only add on to his/her anxiety.
- Inform your dentist and visit him immediately.
- Rinse the tooth in tap water and remove any blood or mud present on it.
- Gently insert the tooth in the socket by holding the crown portion i.e. the white portion. Do not disturb the root portion.
- If replacing the tooth in the socket is not possible, place the tooth under the tongue of the patient or between the molar and cheek and report to the dentist immediately.
- If your child is too young keeping the tooth under the tongue could be dangerous.
- A tooth can also be kept in milk or spirit while coming to the dentist.
- Avoid storing in water.
